The 8th Annual Hunahpu’s Day® is

Many of our fans have been supporters of the brewery from our earliest days and have seen Hunahpu’s Day evolve from a small group of friends and beer-lovers enjoying a unique Imperial Stout in a warehouse to one of the country’s premier craft beer events, with brewers and revelers traveling from across the globe to our Tampa home. Along the way we’ve put every ounce of our collective energy into making the festival exciting, dynamic, safe and enjoyable for those attending and to accommodate as many Cigar City fans as possible at the festival. We’ve had highs (the 2016 festival, for instance) and lows (the 2014 festival, for example), but with each festival we look for ways to better serve our fans and supporters.
Our customer’s first experience with each year’s festival, and the occasion that truly sets the tone for the festival’s execution, is the selling of tickets for the event. What we’ve experienced in past years with Hunahpu’s Day tickets and with other premier beer events across the world is that announcing a specific date and time for ticket sales allows a small group of tech-savvy and greedy folks to cheat the system by using malware to block entry to a ticket portal until they’ve secured their own tickets or to “cut the digital line” by using back-door routes through vendors’ websites. In the spirit of fairness and egalitarianism, we are proud to announce the following details about Hunahpu’s Day 2017:
-Hunahpu’s Day tickets will go on sale at a date and time between December 1st and December 31st. The date and time will NOT be announced beforehand. We will simply announce that “tickets are now available” at a predetermined time between December 1st and December 31st.
-Tickets will again be available according to the following levels:
-Entrance to the festival, unlimited pours of over 300 different rare beers, a meal ticket, a souvenir tasting glass and 4 bottles of Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout will be $200 plus tax.
-Entrance to the festival, unlimited pours of over 300 different rare beers, a meal ticket, a souvenir tasting glass and 8 bottles of Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout will be $300 plus tax.
-Entrance to the festival, unlimited pours of over 300 different rare beers, a meal ticket a souvenir tasting glass and 12 bottles of Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout will be $400 plus tax
Our intention with this approach is to level the playing field for everyone who would like to attend the festival and to prevent abuses of the ticketing system by those with bad intentions and a tech background. At the same time, we understand that a $200 to $400 purchase requires some financial foresight for most folks. After much internal discussion we felt that a “potential ticket sales window” prevents abuse and overloading of our ticketing platform, while a notification of upcoming ticket sales and an outline of ticket costs allows our supporters to plan their finances in anticipation of the festival.
We would also like to announce some additional details about Hunahpu’s Day 2017:
-There will be no tickets sold that do not include Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout bottles; the three tiers outlined above are the only options available to attend Hunahpu’s Day
-Tickets will only be available online. There will be no tickets sold in-person at the brewery or elsewhere.
-Tickets will only be available in quantities of one or two. Tickets will have the name of the credit card holder submitting payment printed on them, and those attending the festival must provide photo ID that matches the name printed on their ticket; for example, John Doe may purchase up to (2) tickets, both will have John Doe’s name on them and John Doe MUST provide a photo ID with his name when he and his guest enter the festival. There will be no transferring or reselling of Hunahpu’s Day tickets.
-All festival attendees must be 21 years or older and must arrive with a US driver’s license, military ID or passport to gain entrance to the festival. The only non-US issued identification that will be accepted will be a passport
-A final list of breweries who will be pouring beer at Hunahpu’s Day 2017 will be announced in early 2017. As in past years, the list will include over 120 of the most exciting, talented and sought-after breweries from all over the country and the world pouring their favorite beers.
-Members of our Fifth Edition El Catador Barrel-Aged Club are currently the only individuals that have access to tickets, and will have access to these tickets until noon EDT on November 30th, 2016. Anyone who is not currently a club member, including club trustees, will have access to tickets as described above. These will be the outlets through which we announce the availability of Hunahpu’s Day tickets.
